Can the Tour Operator ask me for more money?
The Tour Operator has increased the price of the package holiday. Can they do this?
The price of a package holiday can only be increased if it is more than thirty days before the departure. The booking conditions will make reference to surcharges and advise any increase in price will be due to increased transport costs, fees, taxes or exchange rate changes. The Tour Operator must cover the first 2% of any increase. The option to cancel the holiday must be available if the increase in price is a “significant” change. ABTA gives a figure of 10% as a rough guide but in the case of very expensive holidays; a “significant” change could be caused by only a small percentage rise in cost.
