£3,200 for Victim of Turkey Holiday Illness

A holidaymaker from Swansea has won £3200 in an out of court settlement reached with the tour operator Thomson Holidays after his package holiday in Turkey was ruined by a nasty bout of Salmonella food poisoning.

Mr Thomas contracted Salmonella, a bacterial infection that attacks the stomach lining, whilst holidaying Ersan Resort and Spa in Gumbet, Turkey.

Holiday Illness Compensation

After returning home Mr Thomas contacted Simpson Millar Solicitors and received free advice about his case and the compensation claims process.

Nick Harris, Head of Holiday Law at Simpson Millar Solicitors took on Mr Thomas’ case on no win no fee terms. Nick said;

“Salmonella on Holiday is Unacceptable”

Salmonella is a bug that can be destroyed if food is cooked thoroughly and catering staff exercise care when preparing foods.

The Salmonella germ spreads rapidly and thrives in environments where the temperature is warm. So, for example, if food is not kept adequately heated and is just tepid or lukewarm there is a much increased risk of the food becoming contaminated by Salmonella.

The is absolutely no excuse for hotels and tour operators failing to ensure that the food they are serving is safe to eat”.

First Class Service

When asked to describe the service Simpson Millar’s Expert Holiday Claims Team had provided Mr Thomas had nothing but praise saying he had received;

“A truly professional and reliable service whom I would recommend to anyone. I would like to thank Mr Nick Harris for the professional way in which he dealt with my case, always keeping me informed and up to date with proceedings”.

When asked if there was anything that could improve the service he had received Mr Thomas replied;

“There is nothing as far as I am concerned that would improve the service I received – it was first class”.
