My holiday has been cancelled

 
 

The Tour Operator has cancelled my package holiday. What are my options?

The Package Travel Regulations 1992 gives you three options:

  • Choose another package holiday of equal or higher quality from the Tour Operator.
  • Choose another package holiday of lower quality and recoup the difference in cost of the two packages.
  • Choose to be refunded in full by the Tour Operator.

If the cancellation is due to an event that is out of the Tour Operators control such as civil unrest or an erupting volcano then you will not be entitled to any compensation as it is not “appropriate”

Tour Operators are sometimes able to cancel package holidays if they do not get sufficient bookings but this must be clearly stated in the holiday brochure.
