Holiday Village Manar Tunisia E coli 0157 Illness Bug Reported by Holidaymakers

Travellers have contacted Holiday Claims Simpson Millar Specialist Solicitors regarding holiday illnesses suffered at First Choice's flagship Holiday Village, the Holiday Village Manar in Tunisia.

Guests are claiming compensation because they have suffered E. Coli Poisoning and symptoms which include: stomach cramps – vomiting – nausea – blood in stools; and uncontrollable bouts of diarrhoea – this is despite the influence and control First Choice Claim to have over their Holiday Villages. The deadly strain E. Coli 0157 has been reported to the Environmental Health Authority.

Simon Lomax, Simpson Millar’s Holiday Illness Claims Manager said:

First Choices Holiday Village Manar is described by the Tour Operator as a real all-in-one experience for families, with several restaurants, two mega pools, loads of activities, and an on-site Aquapark. Unfortunately, the Holiday Village Manar, which is exclusive to First Choice’s customers, has seen its customers returning to the UK whose have been affected by the bacterial infection E. Coli 0157.”

“Holidaymakers should note that E. Coli 0157 is often caused by the consumption of contaminated food and/or poor hygiene practices. Infection by this strain can cause debilitating and long term illnesses which are certainly not the result of climate change, over indulgence or a viral bug passed from person-to-person. It can sometimes be deadly”

Simon continues to say:

Typical complaints Simpson Millar are claiming compensation for on behalf of First Choice’s Holiday Village Manar customers include:

  • Undercooked food and food being served luke warm
  • New food replenished on top of old food
  • Food being left exposed to heat and insects
  • Cats roaming around the restaurants
  • Cross contamination whilst cooking
  • Flies and insects infesting the restaurants and contaminating food
  • Birds contaminating the tables, at service areas at the Beach bar

“We are also monitoring reports of illness claims at the Holiday Village Turkey, the Holiday Village Costa Del Sol, together with the Red Sea Holiday Village in Egypt."

“Illness caused by bacterial infections are avoidable if adequate due diligence hygiene procedures are put in place and are maintained. First Choice should ensure that standards are improved at the Holiday Village Manar – Tunisia – to prevent further infections of E coli 0157!”
