Illness Reported at the Delphin Palace Hotel in Antalya, Turkey

Recent reviews on TripAdvisor are alerting holidaymakers that guests are falling ill with diarrhoea and vomiting at the Delphin Palace Hotel in Antalya, Turkey.

Although the hotel has an “excellent” rating on TripAdvisor and receives glowing reports from some holidaymakers, a review posted by a holidaymaker from Nottingham on 8 October reveals that they were greeted by the sight of a woman vomiting in the reception area as they checked in on 29 September – and coffee and milk in their room were “congealed”.

Several holidaymakers have reported that staff were not as attentive as on previous visits – and one guest posted on 9 October that their room was not properly cleaned and poor quality meat like mutton and tripe were allegedly served up.

Holidaymakers posting on 4 October reported on TripAdvisor that a member of their family spent three days in bed with vomiting and diarrhoea while staying at the Delphin Palace Hotel – and another guest who had also only eaten at the hotel and drank bottled water also fell ill with vomiting and diarrhoea.

Although the Delphin Palace is praised for being “spotless” by guests, many holidaymakers posting on TripAdvisor report cost-cutting on the quality of drinks and toiletries or tea and coffee in rooms, as well as staff who were not attentive – suggesting a gradual lapse in standards may be resulting in some holidaymakers falling ill with vomiting and diarrhoea at the hotel.

As well as a buffet, the hotel also has open air restaurants, where contamination from insects and birds may easily occur if tables and the cooking area are not kept clean and food kept chilled or covered before preparation.

At the time of writing, the hotel management had not responded to the reports on TripAdvisor of vomiting and diarrhoea illness at the Delphin Palace in Antalya.
