Thomson Pay £2,500 Compensation for Travellers’ Diarrhoea!

Mr Cheatle from Walsall, West Midland suffered from Travellers’ Diarrhoea whilst staying at the Jaz Mirabel Beach with his girlfriend in July 2011.

‘Travellers’ Diarrhoea’ is a common excuse used by tour companies to defend claims because it is widespread, and accounts for 40% of UK holidaymakers travelling to Egypt.

Holiday Illness Compensation

After returning to the UK, Mr Cheatle contacted Simpson Millar’s Holiday Travel Team who specialise in pursuing Holiday Illness Claims against UK tour operators.

Simon Lomax, the firm’s Holiday Accident and Illness manager made a successful claim of £2500 against Thomson, whose lawyers were prepared to deal with this claim amicably and out of court.

Egypt Holiday Illness?

Simon says:

“One cause of travellers’ diarrhoea is exposure to bacteria ingested through the consumption of contaminated food, i.e. food poisoning. E. coli is the most common bacterial culprit, although salmonella gastroenteritis and campylobacter enteritis are often implicated.”

“It was our initial assessment that the symptoms Mr Cheatle suffered whilst on holiday at the Jaz Mirabel Beach, and the treatment he received, may be indicative of a bacterial food poisoning, although this was not conclusive and was never admitted by the tour operator through out the claim.”

“It is unfortunately not possible to make a reliable diagnosis from the history of symptoms alone without the expertise of a gastroenterologist.”

“Thomson Holidays lawyers often suggest that gastric illnesses on holidays in Egypt are caused by viral irritants or change of temperature, food allergies or improper diet – inferring that their customers over indulged on food or the alcohol provided as part of the all inclusive package!”

Dedicated Service

Mr Cheatle was impressed with the service he received from Simpson Millar’s Travel Solicitors and the amount of compensation we won for his Jaz Mirabel Beach illness. When asked to sum up the service he received from our firm he said;

5 out of 5 for service – Simon was very helpful and made the process easy. I am very happy. He was very helpful, friendly, and I would like to thank him for all his help and advice.”

Holiday Solicitors Charges

Our Travel Solicitors were able to assist Mr. Cheatle pursue compensation from Thomson Holidays by way of “No win No fee” funding, commonly known as a Conditional Fee Agreement.

Holidaymakers who suffer travellers’ diarrhoea on holiday are able to pursue compensation with the assurance that if their personal injury claim is unsuccessful, they will not be left out of pocket because insurance will be taken out at the outset to protect them, if they do not have it already.

Unlike other solicitors firms Simpson Millar’s Travel Lawyers promise to limit their fees to the amount they recover from the tour operator at the end of the claim.

In Mr Cheatle’s case, our Holiday Illness Team successfully recovered £2500 in compensation, and he received the full amount offered by Thomson for the holiday illness at the Jaz Mirabel Beach.
