Garden of Sun Holiday Illness Strikes Turkish Tourists

Simpson Millar’s Specialist Travel Lawyers are receiving instructions from holidaymakers who were struck down with profuse diarrhoea - stomach cramps – fever - headaches and occasional vomiting, whilst staying at the Hotel Garden of Sun in Altinkum, Turkey.

We are advised that over 100 guests suffered from illness at the Hotel Garden of Sun during their stay. Holidaymakers have complained about having to queue for the doctor, then to be treated with CiprofloxacinMetronidazoleBuscopan and Flagyl tablets.

Simon Lomax, Simpson Millar’s Holiday Illness Claim Manager says:

Ciprofloxacin and Metronidazole are antibiotics used to treat bacterial infections and parasites which affect the gut, eg Salmonella and Cryptosporidium. The fact the doctor at the Hotel Garden of Sun has treated holidaymakers with such antibiotics would suggest this illness outbreak was caused by Food Poisoning or contaminated water.”

“We are currently investigating a number of complaints made against UK tour operators, Thomas Cook and First Choice. If the outbreak of illness was due to a bacterial or parasitic infection then holidaymakers can expect to receive substantial compensation!”

Simon continues to say:

“UK tour operators often take steps following such outbreaks to pay off their customers at a fraction of a Holiday Illness Claims true value, often with pitiful vouchers off future holidays.”

“This is unacceptable, and holidaymakers who return home ill from the Hotel Garden of Sun are advised to seek medical treatment from their GP, and to insist on stool cultures. Stool cultures may reveal the presence of infectious agents such as Salmonella – Cryptosporidium – Giardiasis or E. Coli. By having a medical diagnosis it can really strengthen your potential holiday claim.”

“Holidaymakers should then contact a specialist travel solicitor for advice on pursing compensation claims against Thomas Cook and First Choice. Cryptosporidium and Salmonella, for example, are serious infections that can lead to long term health complications including Irritable Bowel Syndrome.”

“Anyone who has been sick or ill on holiday in Turkey at the Hotel Garden of Sun can speak to me directly by calling 0808 129 3347 or by completing our online enquiry form.”
