MS Jaz Regency Salmonella Nile Cruise Ship Sailed Despite On-Board Illness

  • Were you ill whilst cruising on the Jaz Regency?
  • Egypt Nile cruise - holiday illness claims over 40 victims!
  • Struck down with Salmonella Food Poisoning in Egypt?
  • Cruise ship holiday illness infects Thomson’s Nile Cruise!

Simpson Millar’s Holiday Solicitors have been instructed by over 40 holidaymakers, who were struck down by a vicious holiday illness bug, while cruising on the Nile, on-board the luxury cruise vessel, MS Jaz Regency. Over 20 passengers on this nightmare cruise with Thomson Holidays have been confirmed with bacterial food borne infections, Salmonella and E. Coli. Other travellers were told they had ingested a parasite before being treated swiftly by the MS Jaz Regency’s on-board doctor.

Many holidaymakers were unable to enjoy this 5 star cruise, which commenced in Luxor on 8th June 2011 and included stops at Edfu, Aswan and Esna, with passengers having the opportunity to visit sites, such as the Valley of the Kings, Denderah Temple and the Aswan Dam.

Simon Lomax, Simpson Millar’s Holiday Illness Claims Manager says:

“At this stage we are still investigating these claims, but we suspect that this outbreak of illness was caused by the consumption of contaminated food provided on-board the MS Jaz Regency cruise ship. Holidaymakers, who experienced symptoms commonly attributed to food poisoning, such as profuse watery diarrhoea – stomach cramps – fever – headaches and vomiting, are invited to join our clients and claim compensation from Thomson Holidays for their nightmare experience. ”

“Food poisoning from Salmonella and E. Coli can be avoided if such bacteria are removed from food by cooking and serving it at the correct temperature. However, if food is poorly stored, and inadequately prepared and cooked, bacteria such as Salmonella and E. Coli can breed quickly and multiply.”

“Salmonella poisoning is a particularly nasty infection that is known to lead to secondary conditions, including reactive arthritis and irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). If Salmonella gets into the blood stream it can cause death with those particularly at risk being the elderly and young children.”

“Holidaymakers returning from the MS Jaz Regency or any Thomson Cruise, who are ill with Salmonella or E. Coli, are advised to seek immediate assistance from their GP. It is advisable to provide a stool sample so that the precise nature of the illness suffered can be diagnosed.”

Simon continues to suggest that visitors to Egypt are more likely to suffer holiday Illness than in any other popular holiday destination. He claims:

“Despite visitor numbers to Egypt falling due to the recent troubles in Cairo, we are now seeing a rise in the number of compensation claims being made against UK tour operators, with many holidaymakers approaching us for help having been the victims of Salmonella, E. Coli, Campylobacter or Shigella Food Poisoning.”

“We are currently dealing with large group claims for the Tropicana Club Azure and the Red Sea Holiday Village in Egypt where Salmonella infection has also been identified. TUI’s lawyers are currently working with us to settle these compensation claims, and it is hoped that the same can be achieved for those ill on the Jaz Regency Nile Cruise.”

If you have been sick on the Jaz Regency then you are invited to join our group and collectively pursue your claim against Thomson Holidays for compensation. Call today for free advice or complete our Enquiry form.
