The injured holidaymaker needed surgery, and steel pins were inserted, leaving the holidaymaker with an open wound for the rest of the holiday, .

Slips, trips and falls on slippery surfaces are one of the most common types of holiday accident. UK law means that tour operators selling a package holiday have a duty to make sure health and safety procedures are in place.

In this case it appears the guest’s holiday was ruined. In such cases, injured holidaymakers should be able to claim compensation for:

  • Loss of enjoyment, where the holiday was ruined
  • Pain and suffering due to the injury
  • Financial loss for extra expenses, such as medical bills

The Sentido Sultan Beldibi is a three-star hotel used by UK tour operator Thomas Cook. Equipment such a ladders leading down to pools should be safe to use when wet. Tour operators have a legal duty to make sure such equipment kept to UK standards in any hotel they send guests to. Health and safety standards may vary from country to country.

Some reviews of the Sentido Sultan Beldibi mention musty rooms and the fact the hotel needs “updating”. This suggests maintenance may be an issue.
