Illness Hits Holidaymakers at the Dona Sylvia Beach Resort

Stomach cramps and illness have been blamed for ruined the holiday of a guest at a popular Indian resort.

The Dona Sylvia Beach Resort near Mobor, Cavelossim in India has been a favourite with travellers for quite a long time. Many are keen to extol its benefits.

It is spread over acres of beautifully manicured gardens and is situated close to the Cavelossim beach with its idyllic sands.

But in February this year one holidaymaker wrote a highly critical review of the resort which put it at the root of a bout of serious illness.

The party visited the Dona Sylvia in February this year. In their review of the social networking site TripAdvisor they told of being greeted with a warm welcome by hotel staff. But they found their room to also be warm, too warm and smelly into the bargain.

Calls on the hotel staff to clean the room led to servicing after two days. But then disaster struck.

The guests claimed they only ever ate food and drink in the hotel and after a few days they contracted diarrhoea.

The reviewer said terrible stomach cramps and ‘the runs’ made them and their partners ill for the rest of the holiday. Consequently, they were unable to achieve their dreams of sightseeing in Goa.

Holiday Hotel Watch Upon returning home the couple consulted their local doctor. A sample submitted to the surgery was tested and confirmed the potentially lethal bacteria Salmonella, explaining their sickness and diarrhoea symptoms.

The review went on to say that they learned that other guests, at the hotel during their stay, also suffered similar symptoms.

They concluded that while the resort was beautiful and the people friendly, the illness curtailed their enjoyment.
