£57,682 Awarded after a Serious Case of Salmonella Food Poisoning on Holiday

"Miss Knight, a 6 year old child has been awarded compensation amounting to £57,682.53 for a serious bout of Salmonella food poisoning contracted whilst on holiday with Thomson’s in Majorca. She suffered serious gastric fever, pain and dehydration together with debilitating diarrhoea as a consequence of the Salmonella infection. The Claimant was hospitalised for 2 days and was fed on a drip. After 2 years post infection the watery diarrhoea had stopped but she was diagnosed with Irritable Bowel Syndrome. At the date of the trial Miss Knight continued to suffer from constipation 2 to 3 times a month and experienced occasional rectal bleeding. These symptoms were expected to persist for the rest of her life."
